One of the standout features of The Halal Cart is its flavorful offerings that never disappoint. The combo over rice, which includes tender chicken or lamb topped with the signature white and red sauce, receives rave reviews for its tantalizing taste and generous portion sizes. Customers appreciate the affordable prices and often comment on the quality of the ingredients, particularly the juicy meats that define the menu.
Quick service is another highlight here, making it easy for busy students and professionals to grab their favorite meal without the long wait. The friendly demeanor of the staff adds to the overall pleasant dining experience, where even during peak hours, they make an effort to accommodate everyone efficiently.
Most Disliked
Despite the many accolades, there are a few common criticisms worth noting. For instance, some patrons express concerns about the limited seating options. While the close proximity to seating can foster a communal vibe, it may also become inconvenient during busier times.
Furthermore, the cart primarily accepts cash, which can catch some diners off guard if they're not prepared. While calling ahead can mitigate some wait times, the potential for long lines during peak hours remains a common issue. Lastly, a handful of diners have worried about the lack of refrigeration for the meats, especially during warm weather.

Halal cart is the best you can get: affordable, quality and tasty. I like spices so I prefer his cart because the food and sauces are the most flavorful imo. Also fast service.

Chicken is better than gyro; it’s delicious, street Middle Eastern-like, and fairly priced. However, I was unsure how the meat could remain healthy in hot weather without a refrigerator.

One of my favorite eats in the Amherst area. The white and red sauce add a nice spice and flavor to the meats, and the meats are juicy and tender on the inside. I always get the combo over rice, and it comes with good portions of meat. He primarily takes cash only, and there may be a line but you can also call ahead. Prices are affordable and cheap for the portion size. There is only bench seating nearby for the church, and it may get a bit cold waiting here in the winter, but it’s worth it.

I lived in Amherst for college for 4 years and now that I’m done I think about this place in my dreams. It’s the best halal food I’ve ever had. I’ve been trying to find something even close to as good in my town and haven’t come close. Planning a trip back to Amherst purely to get this food again

I was sleeping on this spot for a while, but I went here back in December and the food was proper. Just legit meat and rice with white and hot sauce just like any great halal cart would, insane prices and a huge amount of tasty food. Genuinely cannot go wrong, give bro your business, it's great.

I actually think Sayyed’s halal cart in Amherst is better than NYC halal carts! For $8 or so you get a portion so large, with so much lamb, chicken, or falafel, that you can eat in two meals. Street food is one big thing the American food scene is generally missing, and also what many international students crave! So let’s support local food trucks! Food trucks are so awesome!! (I’m so glad he upgraded the truck a couple years ago so he didn’t have to stand outside when it’s too cold or too hot.)
